Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Well, it’s official…my first iPhone Application has been approved and posted to the iTunes AppStore!  It’s called “Disco Ball”.  It’s a simple app right now, but I have some more touch features on the way and an original audio track.  If you have any problems with it, PLEASE let me know.  If you download it and like it, please leave a positive review.  I would appreciate it.  Check it out!!

Plaxo is awesome!

Here is the scenario…I put a new contact into my computer this morning.  All I had was the person’s first name and email address.  I did not know the person’s last name and I thought this could pose a problem in the future, but it wasn’t THAT big of a deal.  So, back to the story…I put the first name and email into my address book and didn’t think much of it after that.  I also use MobileMe (the old Mac.com) and was looking at the phone to see if the “pushed” data was working.  I expected to see the name and email in my phone as I had entered it.  This was not the case.  What I found was the person’s full name, title, company and email address…all the information I needed.  I was briefly amazed, and then quickly surmised what had happened.  I also have Plaxo installed on my Mac.  What had happened was that I entered the information into my computer.  Plaxo immediately synced my address book with my online address book on Plaxo, recognized the email address I had for that person and checked its database for any matches.  It noticed that it had a match and then automatically updated my address book on my computer.  Being that I have MobileMe contact info pushed directly to my phone, the updated information was also placed on my phone.  Amazing!!  Plaxo is awesome!

iPhone 2.0 Killer App - Exchange

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

The iPhone 2.0 Update has been released and all the buzz is starting to wind down.  Sure, people still can’t find a 3G phone too easily, but at least people aren’t really talking about that too much any more.  The one thing that not too many people spoke about at all, even during all the buzz, was the Exchange integration into the iPhone.  Maybe that was a good sign.  I have found that the Exchange integration was near perfect.  Apple promised us “Push” services for MobileMe, but fell a little bit short, however the Exchange experience is exactly as described.  The only problem I have found with it is that you cannot schedule a meeting and invite others from the iPhone.  You can receive and accept invitations just fine, however.  I believe they’ll add this in the future (I hope), but I think the fact that nobody is talking about it is a testament to how well it works.

My First iPhone App

I have just successfully submitted my first iPhone application!  I’ll post here when it’s available.  I have another idea in the works too.  This is gonna be fun!!

I’m an iPhone Developer!!

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

I have been accepted into the iPhone Developer Program!!  I have already started on a little thing I want to submit to the App Store so hopefully I can have it up soon.  The idea was Jerry Koepp’s and I plan to get a little help from Erik Dabach of Private Stock on the audio side of things.  You can bet I’ll post more information this as I have more to post.  Hint: It’s a little retro!  Stay tuned…

Welcome!

Hey, everyone!  I think I’m finally ready to start getting my site together. Hopefully I’ll have the generic WordPress theme updated to my actual design soon.  The purpose of this site is to post some of my thoughts on things I’m interested in and hopefully some of that information will be worthwhile to others as well.  I’m big time into all things Apple, so I’ll probably tend to talk a lot about that.  I owe everything that I have been able to achieve in my career to my Apple knowledge, so it’s obviously something I’m passionate about.  I am a web-developer too, so I plan on putting together a nice little library of things I have done and, again, hopefully they will prove useful to others.  I’ll keep it at that for now.  I look forward to adding many more articles soon.  Later!!
